Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he sometimes feels isolated and alone in a heartfelt message to his millions of Instagram followers. The 37-year-old, who is still waiting for his first Grand Prix victory of the year, has endured a difficult campaign with Mercedes as a result of their season-long struggles in comparison to their Constructors’ Championship rivals.
Hamilton has previously shown that he is willing to speak publicly about his mental health, with the Brit having lifted the lid on his struggles after missing out on last year’s Drivers’ Championship title to Max Verstappen under controversial circumstances. He elaborated on his mental well-being with an Instagram story post on Thursday in which he admitted to feeling alone before urging his supporters to maintain a positive outlook in order to deal with hardship in their own lives.
“Sometimes I feel so alone,” Hamilton wrote. “If you feel the same please know that it’s OK, you are going to get through this!
“You are a unicorn, there is nobody like you and you have so much power and purpose on this earth, don’t give up. Keep fighting, I’m right here with you. Sending you a hug, love and light.”

Hamilton often uses Instagram to update his supporters on how he is feeling and to send inspirational messages of support to the masses, while he has also spoken at length about his own pursuit of happiness in recent months. He insisted back in March that he ‘stuggled mentally and emotionally’ following last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after which he took a lengthy break from social media and public appearances in order to come to terms with what had happened.
“It has been such a tough year already with everything that is happening around us,” said Hamilton. “Hard some days to stay positive. I have struggled mentally and emotionally for a long time.

“To keep going is a constant effort but we have to keep fighting. We have so much to do and to achieve. I am writing to tell you it is OK to to feel the way you do, just know that you are not alone and that we are going to get through this.
“A friend reminded me today, you are so powerful and you can do anything you put your mind to. We can do anything we put our mind to. Let’s remember to live in gratitude for another day to rise. Sending you love and light. “
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Hamilton will be able to challenge for his first Grand Prix victory in 2022 when F1 returns to action in the United States later this month. He has managed to get on the podium on no less than six occasions since the beginning of the year but is running out of time to secure his first win since taking the checked flag at last season’s penultimate Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
